Local Coffee Cafe Review
The Walking Critic | Seminyak, Bali | April 2024
I stayed at a villa around the corner from the Local Coffee cafe in Seminyak and decided, after previously sending my wife out on a mission to get a few takeaway coffees, to actually go find this place for a sit-down breakfast.
The cafe is not easy to find, in that it is not on the main retail beat. But I'm not really sure that really matters, because it is nestled in the middle of a warren of villas and meandering back alleys. Local foot fall is pretty big as holiday goers leave their night pads to explore the many shopping haunts that make Seminyak buzz and hum. The painted Yoda (of Star Wars fame) on the wall outside is a fun and eye-catching mural, but it is sadly run down and in danger of being delapidated soon. It would be great to see someone give the outside a new lick of paint, at it is an iconic sign and advert for the business.
There is no question that Local Coffee is a great choice for superb local coffee...hence the name. If you like people watching, you need not move far. There is an incessant stream of bodies coming and going on foot or mopeds. One young lady was scribbling in her private journal and looking to the heavens in a fug of ecstactic bliss. I wanted what she was on, though my green juice was probably less to blame than her green herb!
For food, I ordered the eggs benedict which was cooked perfectly, though clearly the Holldaise sauce was out of a jar and not a local kitchen.
Friendly staff, great value and a really nice way to spend a morning.
