If I’ve ever learnt anything over the last 35 years of being a style writer, newspaper reporter, magazine editor and blah blah, it is this: what you say matters. But unlike the hoard of unqualified “influencers” that have suddenly risen to prominence because they look awesome in a bikini, or love to shoot their mouth and downgrade everyone (especially women), I’m quite a normal dude that actually knows what he is talking about.
This section is my way of helping (ie not hurting) great restaurants and bars and cafés that bring beauty to other people’s lives. It does not mean they are all Michelin starred venues. No. But they do stand out.
I never pretend to be the master of restaurant reviews. I'll leave that up to other experts more qualified than myself. But I am a professional. I have worked in and reviewed restaurants since I was 18 years old. Food feeds my soul and tastes excite and drive me. I am passionate about cooking which may explain why I even use to get my hands dirty and cook for about 10,000 a year...myself :)
