The Santorini Greek Restaurant in Seminyak was one of my most exciting restaurant finds in Bali for a long time. After 20 years going to Bali (and Seminyak) I was so stoked to find a good Greek restaurant. I think.

40 years ago, I slept on the black sand beaches of Santorini. What I experienced then (and now) is very, very different. But I have since been to Greece well over 20 times. I wanted to see how this place stacked up.

This restaurant is the first Greek restaurant that I have eaten at in Bali. I never saw the point of going to Asia to eat Greek food...until I ate Nasi Goreng every day :) It's like a Pom going to Ibiza to have a curry! But now I explore the never-ending eating entities from around the globe.

I loved the atmosphere, the white grouted pavers, blue lighting and Greek feel. Even the owner smoking cigarettes on a four-top table commanding troops, was like a Greek General and verifiably Greek authentic. His soldiers were working to a battle plan...even though they were Balinese waitresses.

You do feel like a Tetris piece when you arrive. It's all about whether you can fit into a small space, in a hurry! Money before honey. I have been here three times now, and this has not changed.

I know I'm currency.

But the food is about 7.5 out of 10. When it eventually comes out. It is not quick. Neither are the drinks. So patience is required.

On all three occasions there was not enough pita bread for the souvalaki, dips or anything. And when you ask for more....guess what...you wait again. A lot.

The owner's son was there on one of my three trips. He was really good. At PR and dealing with a slow kitchen, bar and more. I gave Santorini Greek Restaurant in Seminyak a 5-star...just.

The local Balinese waitresses were really great (and knowledgeable). And as I said, I really love this place. I have not commented on the meals because I think you need to experience it for yourself.
