Village Square Review
The Walking Critic | Sanur, Bali | January 2024
If you are ever lucky enough to stay at the Andaz by Hyatt in Sanur, then you’re undoubtedly going to walk away raving about Village Square. For this is the epicentre of the hotel’s stunning dining experiences.
At Village Square you have four interconnecting restaurants to choose from and being that they are one and the same in term of sharing neighbouring space, it makes the whole dining adventure really fun and fluid. Often you can hardly tell which restaurant you are in, as the chairs and tables flow into each other like a food court. Yet the choices are amazing: Wok Wok brings Indonesian favourites to the table; Blue Oven draws upon Mediterranean cuisine; Fire Fox is your go-to Asian steakhouse; and Deli & Bakery serves coffee, tea, dessert and many more tantalising sweet things.
All four venues share the same calming view of the manicured grass lawn and the small Balinese temple. Sometimes local musicians add to the mood with their soothing bamboo beat and hollow piping sounds. People are endlessly happy, revelling quietly in the Village Square’s serene atmosphere.
Booking a table is effortless. You just turn up and sit where you can. Better still, you can order food off any menu. If one person wants a big steak, and another person rice and noodles, you order from the menu you like. The staff are amazing and guaranteed to deliver impeccable service with a smile every time.
